Alma was born at Kvarnamåla, Backaryd parish, Blekinge Sweden.
She moves to Karlskrona in 1903. Karlskrona is the biggest naval base in Sweden, then as well as now. She takes a job as a maid for naval captain Sten Erik Flychtig.
She moves back to her parents the following year.
Alma and her two siblings Adolf and Anna move to Denmark in 1905. They moved to Förslev and it was here Alma met her first husband, Hans Christian Hansen.
Alma, Hans and Alma's brother Adolf decide to migrate to the US. The three of them left in the fall of 1911, bound for New Orleans, Louisiana where they were to join Frithiof Swanson, an older brother to Alma and Adolf.

The three of them left Copenhagen, Denmark probably midst November 1911. They sailed from Liverpool, UK, on-board S/S Campania on November 25 and arrived at Ellis Island, New York on December 3. We also learn that they are bound for New Orleans, LN where they will meet up with Frithiof Swanson. Alma is 5 feet 4 tall, fair complexion, blond hair and blue eyes and she has a scar above her left eye.

Alma met Charles Lindquist, also an immigrant from Sweden, and they got married about 1912. They had the following children:

Mae born 18 February 1916 in Oregon. Died in a car accident April 9 1949 in Solano, CA
Swen born 1918 in Montana. Died in Alameda, CA on July 13 1963.
Iris (Irene) born 1920 in Moranville, Minnesota. Died on August 24 1998 in Sonora, CA
Alma's husband Charles worked in the lumber industry together with his brother in law (Alma's brother Adolf).
Alma died in Redding, CA in 1973.
