Charles’ given name was Carl Axel Robin Lindqvist. He was born in Ronneby while his parents still were registered in Reslöv, Skåne. He was the youngest of two sons. His mother was a school teacher and his father was a butcher and a former soldier. His father left the home, for North America, when he was less than a year old. He never saw his father again. His father died 1882 in Newcastle, UK, on his way back to Sweden.
Shortly after his father left them his mother moved to Ronneby, Blekinge.
Charles moved to Karlskrona in 1894 and took a job on board a ship. He ruturned back home in 1895.
Charles became a naval officer in 1902. He applied to the King to be released in 1903. His application was granted 8th of May 1903. He got a move certificate to North America May 26 1903.
He left Sweden via Malmö on June 1 1903. His destination was New York.
According to the police registration in Malmö he had a free ticket to the US.
He arrived at Ellis Island on June 14 1903.
He got married to Alma Swanson about 1912. They had the following children:
Carl born Dec 14 1914 in Oregon. Died March 23 1979 in Columbia, CA
Mae born 18 February 1916 in Oregon. Died in a car accident April 9 1949 in Solano, CA
Swen born 1918 in Montana. Died in Alameda, CA on July 13 1963.
Iris (Irene) born 1920 in Moranville, Minnesota. Died on August 24 1998 in Sonora, CA.
Charles died around 1953 (unconfirmed) living in southern California with his family.
