Per was born in Veberöd, Skåne, Sweden.
Per changed his last name from Andersson to Welande when he became a wagon smith in the late 1870s.
Per’s brother Nils took over the farm when father Anders Persson died in 1879. Per’s mother, Per himself and Per’s sister Hanna lived in a house on the farm. This house was a house destined for the elderly when they no longer were able to manage the farm.
Per gets married to Hanna Nilsdotter on November 11 1882 and moves from his mother’s house at # 10 Grönland to # 5 Veberöd, together with his wife. They moved into a house where a soldier had been living. The soldier and his family moved out the year before.
Per and Hanna had two children:
Emma Christina, born February 12 1883
Otto August, born April 9 1885.
Hanna died on March 14 1889. No cause of death stated.
Per married Anna Sofia Olsson, born May 10 1859, and moved to # 12 Veberöd. The ceremony is on Aug 24 1890. Per and Anna had two children:
Alma, born Nov 21 1891
Karl, born Aug 3 1893, died on Apr 15 1894. No cause of death stated.
Per is called ‘merchant’ from mid 1890s.
Per’s children Emma and Otto leave for the US on March 19 1902. Emma returnes to Sweden in 1906.
Alma and Emma (for the second time) immigrate to the US in 1907 but Alma returns to Sweden in 1912.
Per and Anna have a couple of foster children in the early 1900s. ‘Mother unknown’ is stated about both of them. Johan born 1909 and died 1910. Hjalmar born 1899, moved to a nearby town in 1912.
Anna died of a stroke July 4 1927 and Per died May 12 1932. They are buried in the same grave at Veberöd cemetery.
Per lived in Veberöd all his life, and was considered as an honorable citizen, according to the orbituary.
